Venezuela STM 2/27 Update by: Yuen Ip

Posted by Joanna

Greetings,
Today is February 27th.  The country will be on statutory holidays over the next days before and after the weekends.  Due to the cancelling of the trip to San Cristobal due to safety, we’ve been staying in the country’s capital, Caracas.  Yesterday, we had the opportunity to visit the only Chinese Christian social services center where they provide Spanish/mandarin teaching and legal services to the local Chinese people here.  The lady leading the center, who is also a deacon of the church where Rev. and Mrs. Nip serve, told us that there is a high demand for English lessons.  This would be an area where our brothers and sisters, especially from the English congregation could assist, either via a short-term mission trip or via video conference.  Tonight we will be meeting with the local church deacon’s board to fully discuss their needs and opportunities, so this could be shared with the MB churches in Vancouver.  Please pray that God will give us the wisdom to understand His plan for reaching the Chinese in Venezuela.  With close to half million of Chinese in Venezuela, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
In Christ,
Yuen
