Hiring Youth and Children’s Ministry Intern

We are seeking a youth/children’s ministry intern.  Depending on the needs of the two ministries, the intern may focus on one or both of the two ministries.

Pacific Grace MB Church comprises Cantonese, Mandarin and English Ministries. It is essential that the intern possesses or be actively pursuing formal education from a seminary or Bible College, besides having experience working with children and youth in a church setting. Additionally, the ability to effectively communicate across diverse cultures and possess a comprehensive comprehension of immigrant families will serve as invaluable assets.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in Ministry Activities: Work alongside pastors to coordinate bi-monthly youth group meetings, lead Sunday School, and create a welcoming atmosphere for all participants.
  2. Discipleship and Mentorship: Develop deep relationships with youth, children and their families, guiding and supporting them in their spiritual journeys. Assist in the development and implementation of discipleship programs and initiatives tailored to the needs of the two ministries.
  3. Event Planning and Coordination: Coordinate with pastors to plan and execute engaging events, retreats, outreach activities, and service projects.
  4. Worship Involvement: Encourage youth and children’s participation in worship services and help incorporate youth-led elements into church gatherings. Provide support for youth and children’s involvement in music or other creative expressions of worship.
  5. Communication and Outreach: Use various communication channels to engage with youth children and their parents, including social media, email newsletters, and in-person announcements. Assist in outreach efforts to connect with youth and children in the broader community and invite them to church events.
  6. Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks related to youth and children ministry, such as maintaining attendance records, organizing volunteer schedules, and managing youth ministry resources.

Qualifications:

  • A vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or seminary program (theology, ministry, or youth-related or children-related field preferred).
  • Passion for working with youth and children and helping them grow in their faith.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the unique dynamics of youth and children’s ministry.
  • Commitment to upholding the values and beliefs of the Mennonite Brethren Denomination and Pacific Grace MB Church.

Salary:  $20-24/hr for 10 hours per week. The actual rate will be decided at the job offer.
