  • Installing heat pumps for all the rooms in basement
  • Replace some lights in B5,6 and if possible the corridor in basement

  • The team will host a meeting with all department heads and fellowship/group leaders to discuss on a major decluttering project. Details will be discussed at the next renovation committee meeting

  1. 11.28 Deacon Board meeting excerpts
  • At year’s end, PGMBC’s deacon board will thank Pastor Victor Lee, Pastor Bowie Chiu, and Pastor Ella Cho for their voluntary service, including leading, planning, preaching, teaching Sunday School, and leading fellowships
  • Beginning January 2025, Pastor Valerie Yiu will volunteer at the church, assisting with children’s and teens’ ministry during Pastor Bill’s sabbatical.
  • The five Family Chats’ issues were discussed and resolved.
  • The next phase’s renovation plan (tentative) will include:
  1. review the draft by the designer presented on November 24
  2. Ensure the renovation plan is consistent with the church’s vision
  3. Continue budgeting potential projects with different contractors
  4. The renovation of a room will focus on the church’s youth, while accommodating other uses
  5. heat pumps will be installed in the rooms in the basement
  6. lightings of the church will be improved.

Then, we will follow up that time with a time of praying together, focusing not only on the needs within our church but also on our community.   2. Casa de Luz Missions Trip Update

We are now booked to be at Casa de Luz from July 5 to July 12, 2025. So we are now committed to this adventure in missions! What we need now is to get a firm commitment from those who wish to be a part of this trip. The important part now is to book our airfare to travel from Vancouver to San Diego on July 5th. This is

an important holiday weekend in the USA so the sooner we book the better. For this part of the trip we need to all travel together since we will be picked up on the other side of the border by the vans coming from Casa de Luz to provide us with transportation there. We will most likely be working through a travel agent to ensure that we are all booked on the same flight. For further information about how that will work please contact Rachel Vong. A trip is being planned for next year to go on a missions trip to Casa de Luz in Primo Tapia, Mexico. The date that has been tentatively set is the week of July 5th to July 12th. The plan is to form a team made up of individuals as well as families. Please feel free to contact Pastor Don if you have any questions, but set this date aside and mark your calendars!

    • The 2025 church budget was discussed after reviewing the plans and budgets of various departments. It will be finalized with the final figures by October 18, following revision and amendment.
    • Pastor Bill’s four-month sabbatical, after his six years of service at PGMBC, has been approved by the deacon board upon reviewing his plan. The sabbatical will commence on December 9, 2024, and last for three months until March 8, 2025, with the understanding that the remaining month will be taken later in the year.
    • The professional sketch regarding the church renovation from the architectural firm was tabled. Consultations will be conducted among various stakeholders to gather more opinions before deciding on the feasibility and priority of the renovation projects to be implemented within the $800,000 budget.

  1. 9/21 Deacon Board meeting excerpts:
    • Pastor Audrey has signed a one-year contract commencing October 1, 2024 working no less than 30 hours per week.
    • The one-year contract of Pastor David as part time intentional interim pastor commencing January 1,2025 is in preparation.
    • The Staff Review Group for Pastor Jason and Pastor Victor will be completed to help them enhance their ministry before year’s end in the presence of a lead pastor.
    • Pastor Bill’s request for stress leave on September 16 was accepted, and it will be from October 21 to November 20. Pastor Bill is also entitled to four months’ sabbatical leave after serving full-time in PGMBC for six years since March 1, 2018.
    • The proposed organizational structure of the church and the different responsible persons were endorsed and shown as attached in the bulletin. The new proposed church structure does not require a change in the present church bylaws.
    • The 2025 PGMBC speakers’ honourarium guidelines were adopted.
    • The latest version of the mission department handbook was adopted.
    • The details of implementing the church privacy policy were clarified.
    • The deacon representatives of the 2025 nominating committee are Geraldine Lai and Denise Lau.
